The Princeton Panther Town ball team has clinched a spot in the 2019 Class C Region 1 Tournament after defeating The Rum River Bandits 4-3 in the first round of league playoffs on July 25.
Princeton was trailing 3-0 going into the bottom of the sixth when it was able to score three runs in the inning. They added another run in the seventh and were able to hold on for the victory. Sam Archer went the distance pitching a complete game, only allowing one earned while picking up seven strikeouts.
The win advanced the Panthers to face the number one seeded Isanti Red Birds on July 27, a contest they lost by a score of 15-5. Princeton was attempting to mount a comeback, but a home run in the bottom of the sixth by Isanti propelled them the win.
The Panthers now sit at a record of 13-8 on the season.
The loss set up the match up against North Branch on July 30, with the winner securing the third seed at the Region Tournament while the loser receives the fourth seed.
