The Tiger cross country team had a solid performance at the Monticello Invitational on Sep. 7, with Lexi Duscher placing first overall for the girls’ varsity meet, as well as the boys’ team placing fourth overall in the 12 team field.
Head coach Tom Ostroot was pleased with how his team performed as well as the individual efforts shown.
“We ran very well, we were able to run better than our last meet and what we are looking for is improvements,” said Ostroot.
Duscher, who won her race with 19:47, led the way for Princeton’s strong showing in just its season meet of the season.
“It was great to see Lexi run that well, it was a mentally tough performance and a great win with a competitive field,” stated Ostroot.
Duscher was not the only Tiger with a top ten finish as Julia Daubner placed seventh for the girls’ varsity meet.
Ryan Young finished fourth for the boys’ varsity meet as he ran a 17:17, seven seconds faster than his previous race at the Princeton Invitational.
Sam Brewer of St. Cloud Apollo won the meet with a 17:00, as Apollo took home the team title as well.
Injuries prevented the Princeton girls from placing in the meet as they only ran four runners for the varsity meet. Sartell-Saint Stephen placed first for girls’ varsity.
The Tigers were back at it on Sep. 10 as they raced in the Mora Invite.
