The Princeton girls track & field team will have a deep roster that’s capable of scoring multiple athletes in an event.

The Princeton girls track & field team has a well-balanced core of athletes again this season. With eight returning section placers and all conference and honorable mention athletes, the Tigers look to be a force in the Mississippi 8 conference.

In addition, the team’s only state entrant last year, junior Lexi Duscher returns to run distance for the team. The team placed fourth in the conference and 8th in Section 7AA during the 2018 season.

Head Coach, Tom Ostroot said one sign of strength in a track and field team is when you can score multiple athletes in an event. “That’s what makes championship teams,” he said. He feels the team will be able to do that in both the sprints and the sprint relays, “along with what looks to be a very good 1-2-3 punch in the high jump,” with juniors Kassie Bastian and Lauren Bjurman and freshman Kate Gross.

He said another name to watch this season is senior Abbie Peterson, who throws shot put and discus. “She has come into this season looking very strong in those events.”
