The Mississippi 8 conference will once again be very competitive for the Princeton boys track & field team as the Tigers enter the field with a young group of athletes. The boys finished the 2018 season in ninth place in the conference and 14th place in Section 7AA.
Although Coach Ostroot feels that points may be more difficult to earn on the boys side, early indications show they will have some scorers. Junior Adam Tarvestad has had a strong start to the 2019 season in both the long and triple jumps, as well as in the sprints. Junior Ryan Young, who was out last season with an injury, returns to score some points for the team in the distance races, and senior Bryce Hess has already seen success in the high jump.
“We have a large group of ninth and tenth-graders that we are optimistic about developing into scorers as well,” said Ostroot.
The top two teams in the Mississippi 8 Conference this year look to be St. Michael Albertville and Cambridge-Isanti, for both the boys and girls teams.
