Kaitlyn Kiel chips a shot out of the rough.

The Wolves’ girl golf program struggled to find their swings as the team missed the cut to advance to the second day of sections on June 3 at Blackberry Ridge golf course in Sartell.

In what finally felt like a summer day, with temperatures reaching eighty degrees and the sun shining, Milaca was not able to play the way that led them to the Granite Ridge Conference championship.

“We shot our worst score all season and missed the cut off by 10 strokes.” said head coach Heather Hoeck. The team placed sixth.

On the individual side of the tee, Elaina Davis and Kaitlyn Kiel were able to advance to second round of sections both with rounds of 97. Neither were able to qualify for state.

Kiel finished placed 20th in the section tournament.

Albany took the title as sections champs and will be participating in the state golf meet.

Milaca will be graduating four seniors with Davis among those leaving.

The Wolves will begin their season again next spring aiming to defend their title as conference champs.
