The Wolves’ baseball team fell in its first game in sections on May 28 to Sauk Centre by a score of 8-7 on a walk-off hit in extra innings that brought an end to their season.
After opening up a three- run lead after the first inning, Milaca found themselves down by four runs going into the top of the fifth.
The Wolves battled back to tie the game at seven in the top of the sixth inning after a bases loaded walk drawn by Louis Rudolph-Munson forced in a run.
After a couple scoreless innings, Sauk Centre came up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, and with a runner on, doubled the runner home bringing the Wolves’ season to an end.
Sorensen started the game for Milaca Wolves Varsity. He allowed six hits and seven runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four. Sorensen also chipped in three hits and three runs batted in.
Head coach Craig Talberg was hoping for a better end to the season. “The season didn’t go as expected,” Talberg said.
Coming back into next season, Talberg will be looking to shore up pitching.
Milaca will be losing 10 seniors to graduation.
