A motorcyclist died after a crash on Wednesday, June 26, in rural Princeton Township.
Sheriff Don Lorge reported in a news release that the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a 911 call from a woman who reported she and her boyfriend had a discovered a motorcycle crash in the area of the 3700 block of 70th Avenue.
The call was received at 11:59 p.m.
Authorities found a Honda dirt bike-type motorcycle had crashed, causing severe injuries to the driver. The North Memorial Ambulance Service arrived on the scene and the driver of the motorcycle was found deceased.
The body was taken by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office in Ramsey for autopsy and identification.
The victim was identified as Craig P. Maleska, 35. Cause of death was from blunt force injury, the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office reported.
Preliminary investigation into the crash indicates that the driver and the lone occupant on the motorcycle had been driving on the shoulder of the road and appeared to have struck a mailbox.
The Minnesota State Patrol was requested to assist in the investigation, which is on-going.
Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Deputies also responded to the scene along with the Princeton Fire Department.
