Aldi is getting ready to open its first store in Princeton as part of the company’s $3.4 billion investment to expand to 2,500 stores across the country by the end of 2022.
To celebrate the store’s grand opening, Princeton residents can join Aldi for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 6, at 8:25 a.m., followed by a giveaway offering gift cards to the first 100 customers. Shoppers can also enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win one year’s worth of Aldi produce.
“Aldi stores are designed to make life easier for people. We offer high-quality foods at affordable prices and a streamlined shopping experience unlike anything else,” said Matt Lilla, Faribault division vice president for Aldi. “From our award-winning products to trendy, fresh and healthy options, we’re focused on carrying a selection that has something for everyone.”
Princeton’s new Aldi store layout will provide an improved in-store experience and features additional refrigeration and freezer space to house more fresh, convenient and healthy products. Aldi stores also feature open ceilings, natural lighting, and environmentally friendly building materials.
Aldi prides itself in giving shoppers the best possible grocery shopping experience, including offering a streamlined selection to remove the guesswork from shopping. By limiting the number of similar items, the focus becomes carrying the best options at the best prices.
Aldi has earned over 300 product awards and recognitions since 2017 for its exclusive brands.
The store’s grocery carts require a 25-cent deposit, which is given back after the cart is returned. Customers also bag their own groceries.
The random products seen in the center of the store aren’t exactly random. Rather calculated, Aldi sells household products in their stores based on when the customers need the products the most and is mainly seasonal-driven.
One of the fastest-growing companies in the U.S., Aldi is adding 25,000 new jobs in stores, warehouses and offices by the year’s end in 2022. The company was named to the Forbes list of America’s Best Large Employers for four years in a row and offers its employees market-leading salaries and benefits. In 2018, the company was recognized as a National Top Workforce by Energage for the second straight year.
Aldi also offers online grocery delivery service in 35 states and 5,000 zip codes.
The Princeton Aldi store, 1911 Fifth St. N., will be open Monday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. beginning on Thursday, Dec. 6.
