The Wolves were not able to slow down Annandale as the Cardinals pulled away to pick up the 42-7 victory to advance while ending Milaca’s season.

“They out-muscled us, they were able to make big plays and got out to a fast start, we made too many mistakes and were never able to gain any momentum,” said head coach Kevin Armbrust on the team’s performance.

Annandale, who came in as the number one seed in the section, was able to jump to a 22-0 lead after a couple of big plays including an 80-yard punt return and a 47-yard pass both resulting in touchdowns.

After a 22-0 lead going into the second quarter the Wolves were able to score a touchdown on the legs of 1,000-yard rusher Henry Truebenbach making it a 22-7 game.

Annandale would score another passing touchdown before half making it 29-7.

The Cardinals would score another two touchdowns leading to the 42-7 victory, snapping the Wolves four-game winning streak and ending the team’s season.

Milaca finished the season with a 5-5 record while Annandale moved to 8-1.

Logan Molacek pitched in another inception bringing his state leading total on the year to ten.

The Wolves set up this match-up by defeating Pine City 21-6 on Oct. 22. Truebenbach scored a touchdown and Molacek added a score as well as picking up two more interceptions.

This marked the third straight year where Milaca improved on its win total moving from 4-6 last season.

“It was a great season, I am proud of the work the guys put in, we were a game better but much more competitive even in losses,” stated Armbrust.

Moving into next season, Milaca will lose ten seniors, including Molacek, but will return a strong core of players with starting quarterback Braden Hardy and Truebenbach leading the way.

With eyes set looking to next season, Armbrust has a goal set; to get better. “We want to improve, we raise the bar every year, and we want to be better than a year ago.
