The Mille Lacs Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will host a Local Work Group (LWG) meeting for all rural landowners and agricultural producers. This is your chance to have a local voice in policy making for how Federal Natural Resource Programs are rolled out in the State of Minnesota.
The Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) is a USDA cost share program, which provides cost share or financial assistance to install conservation practices. EQIP is a locally led program allowing people at the county level (through the LWG) to determine, which practice or resource concerns receive the highest property for funding. Resource concerns such as: soil health, water quality, plant health, wildlife habitat, and soil quality will be evaluated on all agricultural land uses including: crop, pasture, and forestland. The LWG process was put into place to allow the rural landowners and agricultural producers in counties across the state to provide input on how applications are ranked and receive funding in the EQIP Program.
