Fourth of July festivities could be found all around the Union-Times readership area late last week. With the national holiday falling on a Thursday this year, many people took a long weekend that started on Thursday. Here’s a quick visual recap l of activities in Princeton, Pease, and Bock.
Two-thirds of Princeton’s Fourth of July activities were affected by rain. An afternoon performance by the Shane Martin band and evening racing at Princeton Speedway were canceled, but evening fireworks took place after the storms passed. Weekend activities in Princeton centered around the Saturday, July 6, Firecracker Canoe and Kayak Run, inflatables in Riverside Park, and a concert by the Teddy Bear Band, pictured here with their mascot during a musical performance.( Photo by Michael Pappas Union-Times)
Dozens of people showed up to the Pease Fourth of July celebration to enjoy food and games despite an initial downpour in the afternoon. This inflatable slide was a big hit with the children in attendance. (Photo by Mark Wasson Union-Times)
Bock’s annual Fourth of July parade battled the elements right up until start time, when weather conditions improved. Mille Lacs County Dairy Honorary Ambassadors Arianna Newgard, Brogan Glenn, Mavis Lyseng, Carmon Resse, and Isabella LaClare had a blast soaking spectators standing along the parade route.
