Milaca celebrated the start of the 2019 holiday season during Friday evening’s Community Tree Lighting celebration, which was organized by the Milaca Area Chamber of Commerce, the city of Milaca, and businesses. The annual downtown event kicked off at 4:30 p.m. at First National Bank and pictures with Santa from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. The MAC the Halls Holiday Boutique from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Milaca Arts Center featured handmade artisan crafts, an “Anything Goes” Wreath Contest in partnership with Milaca High School Students in Floral Design Class, Music, Refreshments, and Door Prizes. The evening also featured horse -drawn wagon rides, bonfires, live music, a business hotdish competition, and Santa’s return to light the tree in Alfred Olson Park. Participating downtown businesses included the following: Bexter Book & Copy, Abby Lingle Pottery, Milaca Jeweler, Princeton Insurance Agencies-Milaca, First National Bank of Milaca, Milaca Tanning Salon, Milaca Community Coalition, Crossings Church Milaca, and Stones Throw Golf Course.
