To the editor:

Recently this newspaper featured an article on the Minnesota Vikings Foundation new mission: to bring healthy meals and nutrition education to youth in the Minneapolis-St. Paul community.

I applaud the Vikings Foundation for partnering with local nonprofits within the Twin Cities community to take a step against youth food insecurity. Awareness, education, and access to resources is the key to combating hunger and providing opportunities for growth and development within our communities.

Although this is a step in the right direction, there is still a lot of work to be done before we see an end to food insecurity. To completely combat hunger, we need to raise greater awareness of hunger within Minnesota and advocate for bills to be passed in the Legislature that will provide extra support for low-income families. If we can do this, we can look forward to a future with little to no food insecurity.

In the meantime, I ask that community members support the efforts to end hunger within Minnesota. I, too, will do the same. You can find me in line at the Minnesota Vikings food truck showing my appreciation and gratitude for a company that is looking toward the future.
