Community members can help neighbors stay warm by donating new or gently used blankets for distribution to local families in need through Bridging, a Minnesota nonprofit organization.
The third annual Original Mattress Factory Bring a Blanket for Bridging drive is the primary source for Bridging to secure blankets to give to families they serve.
Clean out the closet, get crafty and make one, or purchase new blankets.
All sizes are needed, especially queen-sized blankets. Gently used and new items accepted, please make certain donations are free of rips, stains, strong odors, and pet hair
Residents can drive by and drop off blankets at one of four Original Mattress Factory locations listed below from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15:
• Eagan, Yankee Square, 1454 Yankee Doodle Road
• Maplewood, 1261 East State Highway 36 Service Road
• Minnetonka - Ridge Square North, 13009 Ridgedale Drive;
• Shakopee, 8034 Old Carriage Court N.
The first 102 donors at each location will receive a “secret envelope” that contains gift cards and other fun items (one envelope per donor, regardless of the number of blankets donated.)
One envelope at each location will contain $102 cash. Every donor can enter onsite to be eligible and register-to-win the grand prize of an Original Mattress Factory queen-size orthopedic luxury firm mattress that will be drawn at random from all entries.
Since 1987, Bridging has served more than 100,000 Minnesota households. This mattress donation also reduces landfill space by 10 million pounds each year.
Bridging’s mission is to empower people to thrive in their homes by providing quality furniture and household goods while families pursue housing stability.
