The Apple Valley Police Department welcomed its newest officer on Sept. 26, when Officer Miranda Demo was sworn in at the Apple Valley City Council meeting.
Chief Jon Rechtzigel said Demo graduated from Farmington High School in 2014. She attended the University of Minnesota Duluth, majoring in criminology and minoring in psychology. She went through police skills training at Rasmussen College, graduating in December 2018. While attending college, she completed an internship with the Apple Valley Police Department.
“I think she liked what she saw. We liked what we saw. She demonstrated work ethic already and we had an opening for a community service officer. She applied and proved herself there,” Rechtzigel said, adding when they had an opening for a police officer, it was a “no-brainer” to hire Demo.
