Sun Thisweek website

As of Aug. 1, has been requiring an online subscription in order for readers to have full access to every story. Readers still have free access to several stories, including breaking news that informs the public of a safety threat, public notices, classified notices, and other general news items. But for full access to every story, including local coverage of schools, city government and sports, which are denoted by a gold check mark next to the headline, a membership is required.

Readers have different options when it comes to a membership, as there are three main levels: a one-day pass, $2.99; a one-month membership, $4.99; or an annual membership for $29.99, giving full access to every story across multiple devices. The annual membership is less than $2.50 a month and less than a dime a day. As this is new for our readers, they will be afforded three free views a month before the payment link pops up after clicking on a story with a gold check mark.

We hope readers will choose some level of membership. We thank readers in advance for the continued support. It helps us provide the news and information that is so important to residents in our communities.

Those who have a print subscription and receive Sun Thisweek or the Dakota County Tribune in the mail, nothing changes with that. Those who have requested a newspaper will still receive it each week at no charge.

We recognize that readers have many options when it comes to choosing online websites and how to stay informed. But for local content that is focused on the people these communities, we hope readers see the value in helping support a product that keeps us all connected, not just now, but well into the future.
