To the editor:

Once again, for lack of consensus on key issues, our elected legislators adjourned their regular session and left important work undone.

It’s disappointing and frustrating to many constituents of both parties that lawmakers missed the deadline to get their work completed. This year’s historic state budget surplus gave lawmakers the opportunity to address a number of critical issues that are now left hanging and unresolved. Minnesotans deserve better.

With the surplus, among other issues, there is room to both reduce the tax burden on seniors and invest in the long-term care workforce.

Lawmakers must come back to their jobs and finish their work. Minnesota seniors are counting on them to get back in session.
