Scores of local skiers, young and old, gathered at Buck Hill on Monday to get a chance to meet skiing legend Lindsey Vonn during a dedication ceremony at the Burnsville slope where she discovered her passion for skiing at a young age.

The tow rope that ferried a young Lindsey Caroline Kildow, who started skiing at the age of 2, to the top of Buck Hill hundreds of times was named in her honor as Kildow's Climb.

Vonn arrived at Buck Hill for a meet-and-greet that lasted much longer than expected making time for as many people as possible to talk to and have various items signed by the Olympic gold medalist, four-time World Cup champion and the most decorated female World Cup skier of all time.

More about the event will be in the Sept. 27 edition.
