On June 27, more than 70 middle school students from across the district cleaned up the expansive gardens at McGuire Middle School for a community service project as part of the Summer Launch into Learning program. “The project was not only a major improvement to the gardens, but gave students an opportunity to team build, learn cooperation skills, and enjoy the outdoors,” said teacher Stacy Treu. “Our students had fun helping out their community, getting in some physical activity and in seeing what a difference they made first-hand.” Launch into Learning engages students in activities and experiences supporting learning and paired with state standards. Students learn through themes including wilderness inquiry, art and culture, lifetime sports, and culinary arts.
