The Eagan Coldwell Banker Burnet office raised a record $2,445 in a recent effort to benefit the District 196 Foundation and The Sheridan Story in providing meals for children on the weekends.
Apple Valley Mayor Mary Hamann-Roland and District 196 Superintendent Mary Kreger were invited to address the 105 Realtors at Coldwell Banker Burnet, 1875 Plaza Drive, Eagan on Tuesday, June 18.
Tony Sampair, vice president of the Eagan office, and Jay Hansen, Realtor and 20-year agent in the business, felt it would be beneficial for other agents to learn about what is happening in the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District, as they cover the market.
In December 2017, the office raised $2,155 for the District 196 Foundation and The Sheridan Story through a similar appeal effort and Sampair and Hansen felt it was good idea to have another fundraiser.
Hansen and Sampair, with some assitance from retired Realtor Bill Tschohl, a member of the District 196 Foundation committee, spearheaded the drive. The amount raised will feed 11 students on the weekends for a year.
Hamann-Roland thanked the Realtors in the office for their part in making the fundraiser happen.
She said the Apple Valley housing market continues to boom and the No. 1 reason is School District 196.
Kreger said District 196 is fortunate to have tremendously supportive parents who chose to buy homes and raise their families here because of the quality of life in the communities in which they live.
There are still many children in District 196 who do not have food on the weekends. Any additional donation to the District 196 Foundation can be sent to: Khia Brown, Community Education Director, 15180 Canada Ave., Rosemount, MN 55068.
