Maple Grove man arrested in connection to the incident
An 18-year-old Maple Grove man has been arrested in connection to a Tuesday incident in which an 8-year-old boy was reportedly pushed off a 31-foot-high slide platform at the Apple Valley Aquatic Center in Apple Valley.
Roman Alexander Adams was arrested and booked into the Dakota County Jail today on a possible charge of felony third-degree assault.
The boy who fell is reportedly in stable condition at an area hospital, according to a release today from the Apple Valley Police Department. The full extent of his injuries is not yet known, police said.
Emergency crews were called to the Aquatic Center at approximately 1:35 p.m. for a medical emergency.
When they arrived they found the boy was conscious and breathing, as Aquatic Center staff and emergency personnel attended to the boy. He was then transported to an area hospital. The boy reportedly fell approximately 31 feet from the top of the slide platform.
The preliminary investigation revealed that another patron picked up and pushed the boy over the railing as they were waiting in line. Witnesses reported there was no interaction between the two prior to the incident. The investigation has determined the victim and suspect do not know each other.
