The Hopkins seventh-grader continued her breakout cross country season by placing fifth at the Class AA state meet on Saturday in 18:10.5.
A St. Louis Park eighth-grader, Miller ran to an 18th place finish in 18:41.8 at her first Class AA state cross country meet on Saturday in Northfield.

Hopkins juniors Ben Haberman and Leo Goodman represented the Royals at the Class AA state meet on Saturday. Goodman was 57th in 16:32.7 and Haberman was 88th in 16:50 among the field of 176 runners.
The Benilde-St. Margaret’s senior was 67th overall at the state cross country meet on Saturday in a time of 16:40.5. He cut 19 seconds and 49 spots from his 2018 state finish.
The Park junior outside hitter had a double-double (13 kills and 18 digs) during a thrilling five-set win over Jefferson for the Section 6-3A volleyball title on Saturday in Bloomington. Against BSM during Tuesday’s semifinal, Howell had 10 kills, 8 digs, 1 blocking assist, dig and ace.
A standout Orioles senior setter had another impressive match to help the Park volleyball team advance to its first-ever state tournament. She had 39 assists, 16 digs and five kills in a five-set win over Jefferson in the Section 6-3A final Saturday. Against BSM, she had two aces, six digs, 30 assists and six kills.
The St. Louis Park 6-foot-1 middle hitter had 12 kills (.476 hitting percentage) and five blocks to help control the middle of the net in a 3-2 win at top-seeded Bloomington Jefferson on Saturday for the Section 6-3A title. She had seven kills and three blocking assists in the 3-0 semifinal win over BSM on Tuesday.
The Benilde-St. Margaret’s senior made some key plays during the Red Knights 36-30 Section 5-4A final loss to SMB on Friday. The linebacker came up with eight tackles including two sacks. As a running back he caught two passes for 39 yards including a 19-yard touchdown pass from Nick Peterson early in the second quarter to take a 27-14 lead.
The Benilde-St. Margaret’s senior had 10 assists, nine kills, three digs and one ace during the Red Knights 3-0 loss to Park in the Section 6-3A semifinals on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
