The Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota will host its annual Rise Above Seizures Walk to raise awareness of epilepsy and support people with seizures.
One in 26 people will be diagnosed with epilepsy in their lifetime, and one in 10 will have a seizure, according to the foundation.
The walk will be 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Wolfe Park, 3700 Monterey Drive in St. Louis Park.
Similar events will take place in Duluth, Fargo-Moorhead, Rochester and St. Cloud. All of the funds raised in each city will be utilized in that community.
Epilepsy is the fourth most common neurological condition after migraines, strokes and Alzheimer’s disease. The foundation seeks to provide public awareness and free statewide education. The foundation’s services cover Minnesota and eastern North Dakota.
