A man was taken into custody by the Minnetonka Police Department at approximately 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 after responding to a report of shots fired at an apartment complex, according to a news release from the city.
A 911 call was initially made at approximately 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21. Officers heard multiple rounds of gunfire once they arrived on the scene and residents were evacuated from nearby apartments at 10233 34th Street West in Minnetonka.
The man was found barricaded inside the apartment. After speaking with police negotiators, he peacefully surrendered prior to 1 p.m., according to a report from the city.
No injuries were reported.
The incident remains under investigation.
Officers were assisted by the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Department as well as the Hopkins, Eden Prairie, Edina and St. Louis Park police departments.
