The League of Women Voters of St. Louis Park is sponsoring two candidate forums in October.
The first candidate forum will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the St. Louis Park City Hall Council Chambers, 5005 Minnetonka Blvd., and will feature the candidates for St. Louis Park School Board. Eight people have filed to run for the board. All eight have been invited to participate in the forum.
The second forum will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, also in the council chambers. This forum will feature candidates for the office of St. Louis Park mayor and for the offices of council members at large for St. Louis Park. Two people are running for mayor, three people are running for the council member at large A seat, and two people are running for the council member at large B seat. All seven candidates have been invited to participate.
The candidates for the school board are C. Colin Cox, Jim Beneke, Jim Leuthner, Ken Morrison, Laura McClendon, Jessica Janoski, Kari Ross and Heather Wilsey.
The candidates for mayor are Jake Spano and Yvette Baudelaire.
The candidates for council member at large A are Deb Brinkman, Larry Kraft and Steve Hallfin.
The candidates for council member at large B are Nadia Mohamed and Joseph Israel.
At the forums, the candidates will answer questions submitted in writing by audience members and make opening and closing statements.
The League of Women Voters is a political nonpartisan organization and states that it does not favor any candidate or political party.
