A day of fishing

This angler found Tuesday to be the perfect day for some ice fishing on Lake Smetana in Eden Prairie. Many metro lakes are now frozen over, but the DNR always urges extreme caution to all who venture out onto ice. According to widely accepted recommendations, a minimum of 4 inches of ice depth is required for foot traffic. Cars need between 8-12 inches of ice, while trucks require at least 12-15 inches.
Make sure the ice is safe before venturing out onto any bodies of frozen water.
