Community members and business representatives from the Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Chamber of Commerce came together for another Black Gown Gala at 6 p.m. at Pique Travel Design off of Water Street. With the inaugural gala occurring last October, the chamber decided to make the event a new spring staple to get the community out and about after a long winter and get excited about the incoming summer fashion. Many local businesses participated in bringing in the fashion as well as supplying other elements of the show. Local community members from the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department, nearby school districts and other business representatives served as models. The event also served as a fundraiser for the chamber, with bidding beginning April 24 and ending the night of the gala. According to the chamber website, the second gala raised nearly $3,000.
