A 19-year-old Brooklyn Park man was arrested after the death of his 2-month old son on Sept. 3.

According to the Brooklyn Park Police Department, at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 3, officers were dispatched to an apartment on the 5800 block of 73rd Avenue on a report of an unconscious 10-week old baby.

Arriving officers found the baby was not breathing. They administered first aid, and the baby was taken to North Memorial Health Hospital, where he later died at 1:30 p.m.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office said that the baby died of “multiple blunt force injuries,” and ruled the death a homicide.

The father was the child’s only caregiver at the time of the baby’s death. He has been arrested for homicide and is being held in the Hennepin County Jail while criminal charges are pending.
