Robbinsdale Armstrong boys golf made it to round two of the 6AAA section meet as a team and finished fifth overall with a 666 at the Ridges at Sand Creek Golf Course.
The Falcons shot a 327 on May 30 and followed it up with a 339 on June 3. Edina won the team title and advanced to state with a 605 (295-310).
Sophomore Evan Dimich and freshman Jonathan Essen both finished in the top 20. Dimich was 16th with a 162 (78-84), and Essen was 20th with a 165 (83-83).
Dimich started round one with eight pars and a birdie in his first 10 holes and had three pars and a birdie in his final eight holes of the round. He began round two with seven pars in nine holes and added three pars and a birdie on the back nine.
Essen had eight pars in round one and started round two strong with four pars and two birdies on his front nine. He had three more pars on the back nine.
Junior Stuart Handzel took 24th with a 169 (85-84). He finished with five pars and two birdies in round one and had eight pars and a birdie in round two.
Junior Jordan Slagle was 29th with a 171 (81-90), and sophomore Max Korbel was 32nd with a 174 (85-89). Slagle collected 11 pars and two birdies in round one and had eight pars in round two. Korbel finished with six pars and a birdie in round one and five pars and two birdies in round two.
Freshman Shane Seifert didn’t advance past the first round. He shot an 88 on May 30 and finished with four pars and a birdie.
Edina’s Matt McGuire won the meet with a 150 (74-76). The other state qualifiers were Minneapolis Washburn’s Stellan Orvick with a 152 (76-76), Hopkins’ Seth Schricker with a 153 (76-77), Wayzata’s Brendan Lee with a 154 (78-76), Benilde-St. Margaret’s Nate Anderson with a 154 (77-77) and Wayzata’s Seth Almquist with a 157 (75-82).
All six Falcon golfers are expected back next season.
