Park Center boys basketball traveled Aug. 3-4 to the College of St, Benedict in St. Joseph for the Pacesetter Sweet 16 tournament and finished runner-up to Cretin-Derham Hall.

The Pirates fell 78-76 on a last-second shot in the final. They won three games to make the finals, defeating Bemidji 79-60, Minneapolis North 90-68 and Waseca 85-59.

The Pacesetter Sweet 16, which is every year in August, is an invitational pitting top teams from each of the four high school divisions. Pacesetter, based in Paynesville, conducts basketball and volleyball camps and basketball tournaments in five states.
