Golden Valley Mayor Shep Harris announced his bid for re-election to the mayor’s seat in the November 2019 election.

Harris will be completing his second term as mayor ending Jan. 1, 2020. In a press release, Harris highlighted the construction of Brookview, several park improvements, reducing long-term debt and continued outreach to minorities and underrepresented groups as his most proud accomplishments.

If re-elected, Harris said his focus would be doubling down on inclusivity through social justice initiatives, housing and infrastructure improvements, community outreach and collaborating with other city leaders on effective governing.

Harris is a father of three with wife Beckie Skelton, and a Senior Government Relations Specialist at Fredrikson & Byron. He is a member of the Golden Valley Rotary, League of Women Voters, Golden Valley Historical Society and Sons of American Legion Chester Bird Post 523. He is a supporter of many local organizations, including Golden Valley Little League and Girls Softball, the Golden Valley Community Foundation and Business Council, Beyond the Yellow Ribbon and Golden Valley Pride.
