To the Editor:

I think New Hope’s on-street, overnight parking restrictions should be re-evaluated, especially during holidays.

We had our adult children and relatives from out of town all staying with us over the weekend and woke up to find tickets on all their cars on Sunday. On the Thursday before, I called the police department to get them permits but it was too late in the day and they were closed. I called the after-hours number on the recording and it was out of service. I went on the city website and called the number listed there – and a friendly person took the information for all our vehicles and said we should be fine for the two nights. As such, it was rather disappointing to find these tickets on Sunday morning. It would appear the system does not work, and it discourages visitors from coming to our city.
