To the Editor:

Outgoing Principal David Dahl’s recent column was a positive reminder of the hard work that Robbinsdale Area Schools has been doing over the past 10 years to meet the needs of our students. Programs like AVID, which has been implemented district-wide for several years, have offered support for many of our students seeking to be the first members of their families to attend college. Our district has consistently worked to improve its programs and curriculum at all levels, and like Dahl says about Armstrong, all of our schools are works in progress.

That being said, we are about to embark upon a new school year and, like every year, there are a lot of changes. Our school community must move forward as well. As a newly-retired 281 teacher and past parent in the district, I can promise you this: our teachers are working hard to prepare for your children, to be positive role models, to facilitate an excellent education for those who strive to achieve it and to continually reflect and improve as educators. Our new principals at Armstrong and our employees across the district need your support. Volunteer and you will find wonderful things happening in all of our school communities. Be present and be positive as we move forward together.
