The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources issued the fourth edition of the 2019 Minnesota Fall Color Update on Oct. 3. The weekly update is brought to viewers by Explore Minnesota and the Minnesota State Parks and Trails and provides a guide to the peak fall color season.

According to the update, fall color in northeast Minnesota has accelerated due to recent frosts, but peak color still lingers in the region’s ash, aspen, birch and maple trees. Autumn shades of orange, yellow and gold cast a golden glow throughout northwest Minnesota’s forests, while trees in central Minnesota are rapidly turning orange, yellow and red. Fall color is also progressing rapidly in southern Minnesota and the metro area.
