I heard Hennepin County is building a veterans monument at the Government Center in Minneapolis. I don’t know what it will look like, but I would argue for something completely different, like honoring all veterans, no matter their skin color, gender, or country of origin.

Too often “Support the troops” mysteriously accompanies the voting down of veterans’ benefits. There should be a boulder, or meaningful statue, that says, “Thank you for your service means nothing if veteran services are cut.”
