Yellow cones mark spent shell casings at Shingle Creek Crossing shopping center after a March 10 shots fired incident.
At least 21 gunshots were fired in Brooklyn Center on March 10, according to the Brooklyn Center Police Department.
According to a Facebook post, Brooklyn Center Police were dispatched to a report of shots fired near a restaurant at the Shingle Creek Crossing shopping center.
“Officers arrived on scene quickly and discovered obvious signs of gunfire,” the post reads. “This included 21 (spent shell) casings being recovered, a business being struck with several bullets and multiple cars being struck.”
Detectives believe that two groups of individuals were involved in the incident.
Two suspects were inside a restaurant when another two individuals walked in. A short time later, these two individuals left the restaurant without purchasing anything and walked to a vehicle parked near the front doors.
Investigators believe the two groups knew each other.
The two suspects began to leave the restaurant when they brandished firearms and began firing shots at the vehicle.
The suspects and the intended victims left the scene of the shooting shortly after.
“At this time, miraculously, there have been no reports of injuries stemming from the gunfire,” reads the BCPD Facebook post. “It is not believed that this incident was random.”
