To the editor,

In 1957, as students attempted to integrate Little Rock High School, white crowds yelled at them to “Go back to Africa.” It was racist then and it is still racist now.

This goes well beyond Trump’s differences with four congresswomen of color. Immigrants and people of color in our communities - including my children - just heard our president tell them that they don’t belong.

In my opinion, printing “leftist cartoons” as a writer referred to them in her letter, is the least that newspapers should be doing. In fact, we all should be doing more.

Regardless of your political beliefs, we all have a responsibility to call out racism whether by our president, family members, coworkers or friends. Our community is changing; let’s work together to raise these children of all races to realize that they are all truly equal.
