Debra K. (Olson) Schott

Debra K. (Olson) Schott, 58, of Lester Prairie died tragically Friday morning, June 28, in a helicopter crash in Brainerd. A Celebration of life was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted High School, 8700 County Road 6 SW, Howard Lake. A visitation was held from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Debra “Deb” Kay Schott was born in Litchfield. She was the only daughter to Robert R. Olson and Norma A. Olson (Johnson). She graduated high school at Kerkhoven Murdock Sunburg (KMS) High School. Deb graduated Nursing school from Ridgewater College, Willmar. She graduated from Crown College with her Bachelors in Science Nursing (BSN). Deb was currently employed as a registered nurse at Ridgeview Emergency Department and flight nurse for North Air Care. She will miss working with all of her friends and co-workers! In 2007, Deb married Gary Schott in Maui, Hawaii. She loved to travel, working in the garden and was an avid photographer – her favorite was taking scenic photos. She loved spending her time with her kids and grandkids! Deb was a prior Winsted Reserve Officer, McLeod County Posse member, Ridgeview Ambulance Service (EMT-I), Winsted American Legion Post 407 Ladies Auxiliary member, Lester Prairie Lions Member, MSRA and Gasholes Car Club member out of Hutchinson. She will miss her red mustang convertible! She is survived by her husband Gary L. Schott; daughter Kristie (John) Collins of San Antonio, Texas and son Craig (Heidi) Hatlestad of Winsted; two grandchildren, Hailee Collins and Bryce Hatlestad; mother Norma Olson of Sunburg; brother Timothy Olson of Sunburg; stepdaughter Jennifer (Phil) Lachermeier of Winsted; stepson Brent (Becky) Schott of Winsted; stepgrandchildren, Taylor (Zach) Lachermeier of Silver Lake, Benjamin Lachermeier of Winsted, Chloe and Trevin Schott of Winsted and Desiree, Brianna and Preston Collins of Omaha, Nebraska; and her beloved dog Meka.
