Peter Leo will fill the Waconia city council vacancy in Ward 2 left when former council member Kent Bloudek was appointed mayor last month following the departure of Jim Sanborn.
Leo was selected from among seven candidates who applied for the position. The others are Wendy Eischens, Myron Karki, Carl Pierson, Cary Sommer, Rob Weber and Matt Wessale.
The city council made the selection at its meeting Monday evening following candidate interviews.
Leo resides on Cottonwood Court. He has a master’s degree in business administration from the Hamline School of Business and extensive business experience with Emerson Process Management in Shakopee, where he currently is associate commodity manager.
Leo will serve in the Ward 2 position at least until the next regular city election in November 2020.
