Waconia Parkway North could be re-open by mid-November. The main thoroughfare on the west end of downtown Waconia has been closed since May for street, sidewalk and trail reconstruction, and sanitary sewer, watermain and storm sewer replacement.
At a meeting Monday, Public Services Director Craig Eldred shared an update with the Waconia City Council on recent work and a look ahead to project completion.
The box culvert installation, which helps regulate water flow between Lake Waconia and Burandt Lake, was completed last Wednesday, according to Eldred, and the water main connection linking the area west of the culvert to the intersection of Lakeview Terrace was completed on Friday.
Depending on weather, the aggregate road base and curb and gutter could be placed this week, and asphalt paving could be put down mid to late next week.
Items remaining to be completed before the roadway can reopen include guard rail installation and street lighting.
The temporary signal at County Road 10 and Waconia Parkway North won’t be removed until the intersections of Walnut and Lake Street, and Waconia Parkway North, Scott Lane and Lakeview Terrace are open for traffic, according to Eldred.
