This past Saturday, Feb. 11, was an emotional night in the small town of Van Horne, Iowa at the annual Benton “Touch of Class” as Waconia show choirs finished their 2023 competition season.
The Current placed 3rd runner up among the Prep division. Power Company finished first runner-up to Ankeny’s Visual Adrenaline, moving up from 3rd place in the preliminaries; however, they won the hearts of the Iowa crowd, being awarded Best Choreography, Best Costumes and the High Energy” award for the event.
On Feb. 18, Waconia plays host to 19 different groups from Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin who will come here for the 17th annual Waconia Star Power competition, held at Waconia High School.
Director Aaron Olson, who is completing his 25th year as director of the Waconia Show Choir Program, promises an amazing day of talent. Do not miss your chance to see some amazing performances. This will also be one of the last times to catch our Waconia show choirs award winning 2023 shows.
Star Power tickets are available at the door for $10 for day preliminaries and $9 for the evening finals, or only $17 for both events.
