The popular Music in the Park and Movies in the Park series presented by the Norwood Young America Chamber of Commerce and co-sponsors begins on Thursday, May 30 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the NYA Legion Memorial Park (Pool Park).

According to Director Julie Kuenzel, when planning each event they try to offer a variety of different groups rotated throughout the years. On Thursday, July 18 the audience will enjoy music from the Jolly Ramblers as well as a free corn feed and burgers for sale provided by the NYA Lions.

“People in the area really do like the old time music like Polka and Walt’s but the Tribute to Elvis and also to Johnny Cash are always big hits too...We see this as a great opportunity to bring community members together for a fun, entertaining evening,” she said.

Czech Area Concertina on Thursday, May 30

The world’s largest Chemnitzer Concertina Club has 152 members and are currently a nonprofit organization. Their polka sound is a favorite among listeners according to Kuenzel. This event is co-sponsored by Church of Peace

Echoes of Elvis on Thursday, June 6

Listeners of all ages can enjoy this Elvis impersonator from South Saint Paul. This look-a-like will bring all of Elvis’ personality and hits to the stage for an evening of nostalgic rock’n’roll. This event is co-sponsored by Paul McBride Funeral Chapel

Sherwin Linton on Thursday, June 13

If authentic country music is what you’re looking for, Sherwin Linton brings just that to the stage. His Rhinestone wearing, boot heel dragging and cowboy hat wearing style adds to his enthusiasm for the genre.

Sons of the Beach on Thursday, June 20

This energetic band will embrace summer with their music from “beaches around the world.” This event is co-sponsored by NYA Beyond the Yellow Ribbon

The Dirty Country Band on Thursday June 27

This Minnesota band covers all the hits ranging from county to rock to pop and will have something for everyone as well as originals. The band has released new material this year and are continuing to play as many shows as they can. This event is co-sponsored by Schmidt Chiropractic

Allen & Matt Carlson on Thursday, July 11

This father and son Minnesota based duo blend their love of different styles to their county, gospel hymns. Their sound offer a variety of sounds using the ukulele, guitar and piano. This is event is co-sponsored by NYA Senior Advisory Board/Harbor/Haven

Jolly Rambler on Thursday, July 18

Chuck Thiel and his Rolly Ramblers hail from Lester Prairie, Minn. Their danceable music can be enjoyed by listeners of all ages. The large number of members allows the band to mix up their sound from German/Czech old-time to modern and swing to country-rock. This is event is co-sponsored by Stiftungsfest Comm & Ambassadors.
