A brush pile fire led to a blaze that spread across several fields and damaged utility company property on Sunday, according to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to reports of a grass fire in the 11000 block of County Road 33 in Young America Township just before 3 p.m. on Oct. 23. Upon arrival, deputies learned that a resident had obtained a burn permit for a brush fire on Oct. 22. The resident believed the fire to be extinguished, but the embers reignited on Oct. 23 and spread to surrounding properties, creating an out of control grass fire, according to the sheriff’s office.
