The Columbia Heights High School Theater Department presents Disney’s “Beauty & the Beast.” Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. May 3, 4 and 2 p.m. on May 5 at the CHHS Performing Arts Center, 1400 49th Avenue NE, Columbia Heights.

In this Disney classic, a young prince learns the consequences of his arrogance and young girl finds herself yearning to break free from “this provincial life.” Amidst favorite tunes such as “Belle,” “Gaston” and “Be Our Guest” the two become close, but is it enough to break the spell on the prince?

Director Shelley Roberts Gyllen helms a cast of highly-talented student actors, including Aiyana Stephens-Moore as Belle, Ji Hong Ni and the Beast, Alexandra Jones as Mrs. Potts, Issy Rardin as Lumiere, Matilda Durand Mesrobian X as Gaston and many more.

“The theater program at Columbia Heights High School is really something special – we are so lucky to have a strong program [at Columbia Academy] that gives students a chance to fall in love with the stage early,” said Johnson. “‘Beauty and the Beast’ is a huge production, we have 50 students involved on stage, off stage, and in the pit orchestra. We are so excited for you to ‘be our guest’ and enjoy the show.”

Tickets cost $4 for students and senior citizens, $6 for adults and will available to purchase prior to each performance. Tickets can also be purchased in advance online at colheights.k12.mn.us/2019SpringMusical.
