Allina Health will soon be employing up to 500 new workers at a location in Anoka County. The health care provider announced Oct. 15 it has selected Coon Rapids as the site for its new customer experience center.

The center will centralize Allina Health call centers and integrate phone and digital capabilities into one location to better serve Allina’s customers. It will be located at 8800 Evergreen Blvd., a 58,000-square-foot building that will be remodeled to accommodate the center and accompanying state-of-the-art technology. Customer Experience Center specialists will aid with a variety of customer contacts – this includes primary care and specialty scheduling, hospital operator support and technical support.

“The customer experience center allows us to reimagine the traditional call center into a hub of innovation that will help us keep pace with changing communication preference and technologies,” said David Slowinske, senior vice president, Allina Health Group Operations. “Ultimately, our goal is creating meaningful connections with all who choose us for their care. The customer experience center is a big step in realizing that vision.”

Commissioner Rhonda Sivarajah, chair, Anoka County Board, said the customer experience center will have a positive impact on employment and economic development in the county.

“We are thrilled with Allina Health’s growing service and employment in Anoka County and look forward to continuing our strong partnership as they continue to invest in our region,” said Sivarajah.  “We are extremely proud that one of the key differentiators in the selection process was the quality of our local workforce. The development of the customer experience center also falls right in line with the county’s business development goals, as call centers were one of the target industries identified in a recent economic development strategic analysis the county had commissioned alongside Connexus Energy and Metro North Chamber of Commerce.”

Allina Health has maintained a strong partnership with Anoka County and Coon Rapids for many years, and this project reinforces the importance of partnerships with local employers. The economic impacts of Allina’s growing presence in Anoka County are tremendous. Having around 500 new jobs in Anoka County means more opportunities for area residents to work close to home, and area businesses will benefit from the increased patronage from those new employees.

“The city is proud to welcome the new Allina Health customer experience center,” said Coon Rapids Mayor Jerry Koch. “The location is the perfect complement to Allina Health’s other nearby campuses: Mercy Hospital and Unity Campus in Fridley. Allina Health is the city’s largest employer, and we are excited to see the continued growth with up to 500 employees working at this facility.”

The center is scheduled to start taking calls by April 2019, with the remainder of the transition planned in phases throughout 2019.
