To the editor:
Education is valued in Edina by both parents of current students and by the rest of our community. Julie Greene is an outstanding candidate for the Edina School Board who will support all of our kids with sound leadership and wise discernment of their educational needs.
I have had the privilege of knowing Julie and of working with her when she co-chaired the “Vote Yes!” committee in support of the 2017 operating levy citizen campaign for Edina Public Schools. Her dedication to all students and her collaborative outreach were impressive and demonstrated a deep commitment to accessible, high-quality education.
Julie’s belief in meeting students’ needs for excellence in education is at the core of her vision. Her leadership is defined by data-informed decision-making, accountability, and fiscal responsibility. Julie recognizes the importance of supporting both parents and teachers in their partnership to help kids succeed.
Edina Public Schools has important work to do which requires sound governance and effective strategic planning. Julie’s experience has prepared her well to accept this role. In addition to her leadership with the 2017 “Vote Yes!” campaign, she has volunteered hours of her time and energy in our community with leadership positions spanning from Concord Elementary and Girl Scouts of America to her recent launch of the Edina Mural Project, an Edina Community Foundation impact partner, and her role as co-organizer, TEDxEdina 2018 (and 2020).
Like many families in Edina, including my own, Julie and her husband chose Edina as the place to call home. She has demonstrated her commitment to making this home better for all of us, and she has earned our support as a member of the Edina School Board. Please join me in voting for Julie Greene for Edina School Board on Nov. 5.
