Bloomington residents are invited to participate in a discussion about the aesthetic features associated with an Interstate 494 construction project.

The I-494 construction project, expected to begin in the summer of 2023, will redesign the freeway between Highway 169 and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. The first phase will include the interchange for interstates 35W and 494, which will feature a flyover ramp for northbound I-35W traffic traveling west on I-494; express and auxiliary lanes between Highway 100 and I-35W; and changes to I-494 access at Nicollet, Portland and 12th avenues.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has submitted a project layout to Bloomington for municipal consent, and a virtual public engagement meeting will be held 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4.

Registration for the meeting is available online at 494openhouse.com/meetings.

A survey may be submitted in lieu of participating in the meeting. It is available online at 494openhouse.com/currentactivities.
