An attempted carjacking occurred in the Pentagon Park area of Edina Jan. 12, police said.
A victim was exiting her vehicle at a business on the 7700 block of Computer Avenue just after 4 p.m. when another vehicle parked alongside her, according to a city news release.
A man demanded the victim’s keys. The victim complied, but asked to retrieve her purse. She then ran toward a nearby business, when a second man chased after her, ordering her to give up her purse.
The owner of the business witnessed this scene, and chased the second man back to the suspect vehicle, which drove off. The suspect vehicle was later recovered in St. Louis Park, the news release said.
No one was injured and no weapon was used or implied in the incident.
The suspect vehicle had been taken in a carjacking in Richfield during daytime hours on Jan. 12, the news release said.
The Edina Police Department is currently investigating this incident and gathering video evidence from the area. Police urged residents to remember to be careful, stay vigilant of their surroundings and call 911 if they see suspicious activity.
