During Hopkins West Junior High School’s Day of Service event on April 29, students gathered in their gym to assemble nine We Share Solar Suitcase kits to send to Kenyan schools in wildlife conservation communities that lack electricity. The Solar Suitcases were developed by We Share Solar, an educational nonprofit that empowers students to be global changemakers. University of Minnesota student Irina Kornberg led the project and raised $20,000 to buy the suitcases. Students, teachers, Principal Leanne Kampfe, We Share Solar officials and Rep. Patty Acomb (DFL-Minnetonka) came together for the event.
