Jaguar Nation football camp set
Jefferson football staff and players will host a camp for kids with special needs entering third-eighth grade at the Jefferson High School turf field from 4-5 p.m. on Sunday, July 21. No registration required and the camp is open to all kids in Bloomington. Campers will go through a series of football stations including a photo taken of them in full football gear.
Free sports physicals set
Twin Cities Orthopedics (TCO) is offering free high school sports physicals at nine clinics from 5-8 p.m. July 15, 16 and 18. July 15 at Burnsville, Otsego and Waconia; July 16 at Blaine, Eagan-Vikings Lakes and Vadnais Heights and July 18 at Edina-Crosstown, Maple Grove and Woodbury. Drive, Chip and Putt at Hyland Greens
A local qualifier for Drive, Chip and Putt, the national junior golf development competition, is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, July 26 at Hyland Greens. The competition is open to boys and girls ages 7-15 where golfers are divided by age groups. The top three finishers in each division advance to the sub-regional event in Edina Sunday, August 11. The national finals take place at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia the Sunday before The Masters. Registration deadline is July 21 and is available at drivechipandputt.com. BAA to host weekly Floorball sessions
Bloomington Athletic Association (BAA) will host Floorball games open to boys and girls entering fourth-ninth grades at Westwood Elementary starting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays (through August 15). Equipment is provided. Registration is $50 and available only at baaonline.org.
Girls hockey summer practice
Summer of Sundays registration is also open. Nine Sunday evening sessions on the ice at BIG for $95 is open to all girls (8U-12U plus new girls who want to try hockey).
BAA football registration open
Bloomington Athletic Association’s (BAA) football and flag football registration is open to boys and girls (kindergarten through eighth grade) through July 20 at baaonline.org. Evaluations and equipment handout is July 22-24, teams will be announced July 28 followed by a parent meeting from 6-9 p.m. on July 29. Tackle football practice begins July 30. BAA football will host a jamboree at Kelly Park on August 10 with the flag football season beginning on August 17.
Jefferson football event
Jefferson staff will coach (boys in grades 6-8) teams in skill development in a summer flag football program on the Jefferson turf from 7-8 p.m. July 14 and 21. No fee or registration needed.
Barracuda Swim Club upcoming events
The CUDA Swim School will host lessons at Oak Grove Middle School and West Middle School in Shakopee later this summer. Classes are open to boys and girls 5-years-old and up of all abilities with no more than four kids per class. The sessions at Oak Grove Middle School will be Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday August 20-31. Tuesdays/Thursday meet at 6:30-7:10 p.m. and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. Shakopee West sessions will be September 3-14 on the same day and times as Bloomington. Cost is $125.
